I read three due South fics this week and the better part of two novels. Guess there's not much else to do when it's -15 plus windchill and you're broke.
These are all old, but I'd only read one of them before:
Rating: G Pairing: Fraser/Kowalski (mostly in the background though)
Summary: Ray loves Stella like he loves breathing, loves Fraser like he loves his tattoo, loves Chicago like he loves everything permanent in his life.
For years, I have been wondering where I read the phrase "leave the nice detective with the need for speed alone." Now I know, and I am so glad to have re-discovered this fic.
Rating: E Pairing: Fraser/Kowalski Warning: DEATH (Diefenbaker)
Summary: Every year they take their vacation time together and look for the hand of Franklin, the reaching out one, and when they run out of time they put a pin in the map and the next year they pick up where they left off. The story begins with Diefenbaker dies and the whole house of cards crumbles. Ray and Fraser have an adventure, confront their feelings, and rebuild their lives on a more solid foundation.
The first third of this story is really angsty (I cried so much), but then Fraser and Ray start to heal, and it ends up being really soothing and cathartic. Highly recommend, assuming you haven't recently lost a pet.

True North
Rating: E
Pairing: Fraser/Kowalski, Kowalski/bartender from "The Ladies Man" (brief)
Warning: Angst, one-sided attraction
Summary: Maggie Mackenzie unwittingly reveals Fraser’s deepest secret.
Slow burn, post-series where Maggie accidentally outs Fraser's feelings for Ray, and messy, complicated feelings ensue. Very satisfying at the end.
