My Synopsis: Lets just say superpowers come with weird side effects but determination can lead to results..

Sex: Its pretty clear what is happening but I found it more "d'aww" than "ungh"

Consent Issues: kinda the reverse said pheromones hinder things for the pair but they discuss how it can manipulate others.
Other: not sure if this is cannon in Marvel Adventures or the writers choice but everyone lives in happily the mansion.

My Synopsis: Julian being autistic changes everything and nothing about his character in this story. I rarely have seen such a character driven story where everyone is so real and rounded, even when they aren't sympathetic. His being autistic is not presented as some kind of quirk or tragedy. It does create some realistic issues when he doesn't behave as others expect, but it is is part of him neither wholly positive, negative, nor negligible. Sorry for monologuing but this work could be taught as a class in representation.

not sure how to keep up my shtick, but sometimes you just need a nice Avengers as family series. Plus I have a huge soft spot for Tony goes into hyperfocus and 'wakes up' with a new AI.

Tony's got people he pays to take care of that kind of thing, and anyway, he's pretty sure that he's going to die of some exotic disease in his workshop, because Dummy's still a little spotty about what is 'clean' enough to put on an open wound. The rest of the Avengers are in this for personal gain, except for Clint, he just enjoys being a dick.
And some things shouldn't be a chore.
My Synopsis: Everybody is happy and nothing hurts fic with chore charts and sentient toasters. look Vision is sweet and all but I love me some snarky Jarvis.

I thought my capacity to be surprised at what people will write fic about broke after the Folger's commercial, but I wasn't expecting an arrogant worms song. Also nice to see people playing around in the Jupiter Ascending sandbox, that was a lot of world building for a stand alone movie.

I always mean to read Jupiter Ascending fic. I think it got such a raw deal as it does some interesting things, even if it doesn't always manage to pull them off... and isn't that what fic is for in the end? :)

Oh, I totally understand that! mottlemoth's pretty good at finishing fics, but the suspense is stressful even if you trust the author. Most of the time I don't do WIPs either. But Moth's just. Aaaah. I love her style.

Been an anxiety-fueled week and now I'm recovering from health stuff, so I've been doing a lot of rereading old favorites and eventually ended up on an HP next gen binge. All but the last are on LJ, not AO3:

And The Crowd Goes Wild
Sports Night: Dan/Casey, Natalie/Jeremy, Casey/Dana. With references to Casey/Lisa, Casey/Sally, Jeremy/Jenny. 4,500 words; rated R.
Summary: Good writers can find the words even when there is no script.

A 100-word drabble for each episode of Sports Night. Full of feelings on every front and character possible and so many amazing lines.


Johnny I Hardly Knew Ye
Sherlock: Lestrade/John. Rated PG-13; no word count provided but somewhere above 5k and under 10k, I think?
No author summary provided, but it's a fill for the kinkmeme prompt, "John is Lestrade's ex-boyfriend. And up to the moment where Lestrade runs up those stairs in Study in Pink he's not even certain John is still alive."

Really sweet, full of both adorable relationship building and lovely angst.

Harry Potter: Gen MWPP-era ensemble AU, mostly Peter-focused, with background James/Lily, Frank/Alice, Remus/Sirius, and one-sided Remus/Peter. Rated PG-13, 12.5k words, lots of character death.
Summary: What if Peter was a loyal Death Eater, but found a way to protect James and Lily from being hunted by Voldemort? When Peter sees to it that Harry Potter is born on July 15, 1980, the world changes.

This one hurts in such good ways, and it's such a well-written, well-crafted AU idea.

Harry Potter: Next Gen, Scorpius/Albus, Scorpius/James. PG-13, 11k words.
Summary: In love with Albus, his gorgeous boss, Scorpius Malfoy feels like Al sees him as another piece of office furniture. But Al's brother, the arrogant, wealthy James Sirius Potter, has a plan. If Scorpius pretends to be his lover, Albus will surely want what he can't have. The plan seems to be working. But what is James' real agenda here?

Aaand this is just tropey fluff, but I love the author's writing, and how they characterize the next gen kids in particular.

And speaking of loving characterization, this is honestly one of my all-time favorite next gen fics; I love this version of James, and this version of Percy, and the growing friendship between them is so wonderful and sweet.

Thanks for bringing us stuff from livejournal! So much great stuff out there we wouldn't know exists without recs from friends. Does the next gen stuff make sense without the cursed child? I've only read the main HP books.

All this stuff is from well before Cursed Child existed, actually! I got into next gen like the day after Deathly Hallows came out, my recs for it tend to come from pretty far back. XD I still haven't read Cursed Child, so I don't really read stuff fic that goes off it.

Sadly I haven't read anything new this week. I've been sick as a dog since before Christmas and so once I was done making my rec posts I just passed TF out. Having said that, I did re-read most of the fics on my Frostiron rec list and that was pretty fun. Particularly Extremely Hot and Currently Female by copperbadge. Love that one. ^__^
