Right, I don't want to clog the feed so I think maybe I should keep my thoughts on RQG(Hamid) in the comments on this post unless/until I get my thoughts together enough to make a tumblr post.
My sweet Halfling has upped the moral compass/sweetness factor by attempting to charm a riot out of starting. When that didn't work instead of attacking he turned the shirts of the violent agitators orange so they were more visible so they couldn't make it look like there were a lot of them instead of about 4 jerks trying to make the whole crowd look violent with their attack, move, & attack from a new spot strategy. Now he thinks if he sets off fireworks they will be too distracted to hurt anyone...
I think I figured out why I fell so hard for Hamid, its delight! When he smuggled a bottle of alcohol to his friend in jail the jailer asks how he did it: he says "magic!" as he disappears in a cloud smoke.
Which in turn points to why I fell for the show: so many would have gone for a cheap "prison subplot" where Zolf is abused physically or sexually by the guards, other prisoners, or both, to the point I was bracing for it. Instead Alex basicly said "nope I'm building this world and the worst he has to contend with is getting addicted to a series of romance novels the guard cheerfully shares with him."
