I use a pass word manager myself but if you can't or won't I actually would recommend writing them down. It will help you not reuse the same password everywhere, and its a lot more unlikely that a book that you keep either on your person or at home at all times will be stolen then that someone will get your password to something else and try various permutations of it on your other accounts.
