Instead of ranting about the "war on Christmas" or how any one could believe there is a war on Christmas when its impossible to leave your house without Santa et al getting stuffed down your throat, I would just like to take a moment to tell you - yes you, the person reading this entry- that I hope you have a wonderful time in the coming year. I hope that you are sharing this special time of year with family, whether blood or family of the heart. Even we never meet in person, never "chat" online, and even if you choose not to comment; the fact that you are reading this means that you care enough to give me a corner of your brain and I want you to know that I really appreciate it. All I can give you is this journal where I share some of the things that give me joy. So please have a merry Christmas, happy Hanukkah, joyous Solstice, happy Kwanzaa, happy Festivus, and/or enjoy whatever brings you and your family/community together. Enjoy the season: look at the lights; raise a toast; be just a little kinder, and just a little more appreciative when people are kind to you; eat a good meal; watch a sweet movie and don't let anyone give you any shit about being sappy; if you can, give a gift to someone who doesn't expect it.
